On November 7, 2020, it was full of excitement at SESID. The 21st Shanghai Youth Billiards Championship kicked off, which was a part of the 3rd Shanghai Citizens Sports Meeting and titled with ‘SESID Tianlin Cup’. The competition was organized by the Committee of the 3rd Shanghai Citizens Sports Meeting. It was also hosted by Sports Bureau of Xuhui District, Tianlin Subdistrict Office, Shanghai Billiards Association and SESID. More than 130 teenagers from 48 schools signed up for the three-day competition, setting the highest number of applicants in previous competitions. This is the fourth consecutive year that our school has hosted this event.
Billiards is a very useful intelligence activity, both competitive and interesting, which is beneficial to the diversified development of students' personality. It also plays a positive role in the training of students' will, and effectively relieves the pressure brought by their studies. This year, due to the epidemic, the National Games were suspended, but the "Festival" belonging to Shanghai young fans still came as scheduled. Therefore, this year's competition is not only a competition, but also a precious training opportunity.
The competition was divided into four groups: U19 men’s 9-Ball individual competition, U14 men's 9-Ball individual competition, U19 women’s 9-Ball individual competition and U11 Pupils’ 8-Ball individual competition. Six student representatives, Yang Yang, Wang Zizhen, Wang Shengnan, Wang Yulong, Xie Xinyuan and Huang Shurong, participated in the competition. Among them, Yang Yang won the fifth place in U11, and Huang Shurong won the fifth place in U19. "Excellent Organization Award” was given to our school.
The competition not only brought us a wonderful peak match, but also provided a stage for more and more billiards fans to communicate, interact and compete. It is hoped that the success of the tournament can promote the development of billiards in our school, and provide potential talents training and selection for the development of billiards in Shanghai.
